While in the hospital, we care for your patients as you would. So you can have confidence that they will receive the same level of medical care and compassion you provide in your office. The HOWM team also keeps the lines of communication open and timely: At any stage of your patient's stay, you can log into Cerner and view his or her progress. What's more, you will receive a complete discharge summary when your patient is preparing to leave the hospital and, in most cases, we will facilitate the follow-up appointment at your office. In doing so, we ensure that your patients feel cared for and attended to throughout their treatment and healing.

Admission History & Physicals
Our physician assistants facilitate the timely care of your patients by performing admission history and physicals. We're available at all times, at both the Spectrum Health Butterworth and Blodgett Campuses, and may be paged directly or contacted by asking the emergency department physician to reach the HOWM physician assistant. After your patient is seen, our PA will update you on your patient's progress, confirm a medical care plan and even clinically follow your patient until you are able to see him or her yourself.

Complete Inpatient Medical Management
Because HOWM specializes in caring for hospitalized patients, we can manage your patients from admission to discharge. All you have to do is ask us. Our providers are trained in round-the-clock inpatient care and we strive to both maintain your current referral patterns and preserve existing patient-physician relationships.

Urgent Patient Evaluations
We're always available to see your patients when they need to be evaluated urgently. In such cases, we will contact you with our assessment and help implement a treatment plan. You may ask the nursing staff to contact the HOWM PA or page us directly.

Internal Medicine Consultations & Surgical Clearances
We're happy to provide medicine consultations and manage your patients' new and chronic medical conditions while they are hospitalized. In most cases, consultations can be completed within a few hours of notification. We also can evaluate patients for surgical clearance and facilitate any testing required for their clearance.
